Juncell's TIL Therapy Nolgileucel Included in 2026 CSCO Guidelines for Melanoma
During the 29th Annual Meeting of the Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology (CSCO), the 2026 CSCO Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Melanoma was officially released. In this guideline update, the tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte (TIL) therapy Nolgileucel (GC101) has been included as a recommended option. Pivotal clinical studies have confirmed its excellent efficacy and favorable safety profile, providing robust evidence-based support for clinical application.
As stated in the 2026 CSCO Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Melanoma, Nolgileucel is listed as a second-line treatment(Category III recommendation) for advanced cutaneous melanoma and acral melanoma (without brain metastases), and unresectable or advanced mucosal melanoma. The inclusion of Nolgileucel in the CSCO Guidelines reflects the medical community's strong recognition of TIL therapy and marks a key step forward for TIL therapy in solid tumor treatment.
The incidence of melanoma in China is gradually rising. Among Asian populations, the acral and mucosal subtypes are more common. Based on their biological features differing from cutaneous melanoma, both the proportion and the degree of benefiting from existing treatments are significantly inferior to those seen in cutaneous melanoma, making treatment more difficult.
Moreover, patients with advanced disease also face resistance to anti-PD-1 antibodies, with limited treatment options and unmet clinical needs. Grounded in the urgent clinical challenges, China's original research has provided solid evidence-based support for the development and update of guidelines, and has further broadened treatment options for advanced melanoma.
Previously at the 2026 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Annual Meeting, the results of the pivotal Phase II clinical study for GC101 TIL therapy (Nolgileucel) in patients with advanced melanoma were accepted as a Late-Breaking Abstract and presented orally, attracting widespread attention from the international academic community.
