Nolgileucel Accepted as ESMO LBA: Juncell Therapeutics Showcases Chinese Innovation, Featuring Presentations at Three Top Global Oncology Conferences
The 2026 European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Congress will be grandly held in Madrid, Spain, from October 23 to 27. The extended follow-up results from the pivotal Phase II clinical study of Nolgileucel (GC101 TIL therapy), an autologous natural Tumor-Infiltrating Lymphocyte (TIL) therapy independently developed by Shanghai Juncell Therapeutics Co., Ltd, for the treatment of advanced melanoma, have been selected for a Late-Breaking Abstract (LBA) and will feature an oral presentation at the Congress.
Nolgileucel is the world's first TIL therapy that does not require high-intensity lymphodepletion chemotherapy or the administration of IL-2. Previously disclosed data showed the median progression-free survival (PFS) in the GC101 treatment group was 4.3 months, which was significantly superior to that of the control group. The Objective Response Rate (ORR) in the GC101 treatment group was 42.0%, representing a substantial improvement over the 6.1% observed in the control group. In terms of safety profile, adverse events following GC101 treatment were manageable. Its low-intensity preconditioning and IL-2 administration-free regimen facilitates broad clinical adoption.
Previously at the 2026 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Annual Meeting, the results of the pivotal Phase II clinical study of Nolgileucel in patients with advanced melanoma were accepted as a Late-Breaking Abstract and presented orally, attracting widespread attention from the international academic community.
In the recently released 2026 CSCO Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Melanoma, Nolgileucel is recommended as a second-line treatment option for advanced cutaneous melanoma and acral melanoma (patients without brain metastases), as well as unresectable or advanced mucosal melanoma. Meanwhile, The related research was awarded the First Prize of the 2026 CSCO Excellent Paper and the Innovative Research Award.
It is Juncell’s third appearance at the world's premier oncology academic congress this year, representing international recognition of the company's innovation capabilities. In the future, it’s expected to reshape the treatment landscape of advanced melanoma and build solid evidence-based support for clinical practice.
